Ronelle Burger


Ronelle Burger is an associate professor at the Department of Economics at Stellenbosch University in South Africa. She has written a number of articles, book chapters and working papers examining the role of NGOs in African countries and studying problems with government service delivery. She also has significant experience in consultancy work for NGOs, multilateral organizations and government. 

Ronelle is currently the coordinator of ISTR Africa and with her committee she has helped to expand the activities and grow the net-members of the organisation. She was the convener of the most recent ISTR Africa conference held in Stellenbosch in August 2011. Additionally, Ronelle is a member of the Economic Research of Southern Africa (ERSA) public economics organizing committee and will serve as guest editor of Development Southern Africa’s December 2012 issue on health reform in South Africa. Ronelle holds a PhD in Economics from Nottingham University and a Masters degree in Economics from Cambridge University.
