The Rockefeller Archive Center --
The Rockefeller Archive Center, a division of The Rockefeller University, is dedicated to supporting the study of United States and global history from the late 19th century to the end of the 20th century. Established in 1974 by members of the Rockefeller family, the Rockefeller University, the Rockefeller Foundation, and the Rockefeller Brothers Fund, the Center’s core collections – the papers of members of the family and the records of its founding institutions – document the growth and development of Rockefeller philanthropy. The Center also collects the records of foundations and nonprofit organizations active nationally and internationally. The non-Rockefeller collections at the Center include the records of the Russell Sage Foundation, the Commonwealth Fund, the Social Science Research Council, the John and Mary Markle Foundation, the Culpeper Foundation, the Foundation for Child Development, and the Lucille P. Markey Charitable Trust.

Scholars interested in conducting research at the Center should write to the Center, describing their project in specific terms (email: archive@rockefeller.edu). An archivist will respond with a description of the scope and contents of relevant materials.

TRAVEL GRANTS AND RESIDENCIES
The Rockefeller Archive Center makes a limited number of research grants to promote and support research in its collections, while its Scholar-in-Residence Program supports research visits of between two and nine months.

TRAVEL GRANTS
Grants are made on a competitive basis to applicants from any discipline, usually graduate students or post-doctoral scholars, who are engaged in research that requires use of the collections at the Center. The amount of the grant is based upon the successful applicant's budget for round-trip travel to the Archive Center, temporary lodging while studying at the Center, and related research expenses. Applicants from the U.S. and Canada may request up to $3,000. Because of the additional cost of travel, scholars coming from outside the United States and Canada may apply for up to $4,000. Applications for the program must be postmarked by November 15th of each year.

RESIDENCIES
The Scholar-in-Residence Program provides a stipend of $5,000 per month for two to nine months of consecutive study and research at the Archive Center. Prior research experience at the Rockefeller Archive Center is required of applicants to the residency program. Researchers from any discipline who are engaged in studies require an extended consecutive period of research in the collections at the Center are encouraged to apply. Applications for the program must be postmarked by November 15th of each year.
