About the Center

The Centre for Charity Effectiveness (Director, Professor Ian Bruce CBE) was founded in 1991 and works in the voluntary and community nonprofit sector. It has five major strands of work with a new one in development.
· Four Masters degrees (Courses Director – Professor Paul Palmer)
· Research (Research Director Professor Jenny Harrow)
· Consultancy (Head Denise Fellows)
· Training (Denise Fellows)
· Mentoring (Head, Bill Penney)
· Learning Network under development (Head Caroline Copeman)

The Centre is a partnership between Cass Business School and a London City livery company – the Worshipful Company of Management Consultants – who provide considerable pro bono input and run the mentoring scheme

Major Education Initiatives:

  • All the Centre activities above have education elements. The nonprofit degree programme has Masters in management and leadership; marketing and fundraising; financial management and accounting; and grantmaking management. The e based Learning Network is aimed at individual staff and volunteers and consists.

Major Research Projects:

  • The research activities are in a period of expansion and cover areas such as grantmaking, governance, stewardship theory, and marketing
