About the Center
CACOM’s mission is to enhance the Australian community Sector and its management through research, training, publications, seminars and conferences. Professor Jenny Onyx is the Centre Director
Major Education Initiatives:
CACOM does not engage in educational programs directly. However it is partner to the Masters in Community Management (auspiced by the School of Management), and the undergraduate Batchelor of Arts in Adult Education and Community Management. In addition, there are currently five PhD students working with the Centre.
Major Research Projects:
- The Ford Foundation funded “Asia’s Third Sector: Governance for Accountability and Performance” involving partners in six Asian countries, has completed the data collection and final reports now under preparation
- ARC (Australian Research Council) funded program of research concerning “Advocacy in the age of compacts”. Also includes advocacy and accountability issues
- Other research programs concern John Hopkins data project, Social capital projects, human resource management research projects, volunteer research projects
