New Blog -- HistPhil -- of interest to students of the third sector, civil society, philanthropy, and NGOs and nonprofits
The blog will emphasize history, but with a strong focus on the policy, management, and purpose questions that animate VOLUNTAS and discussions at ISTR's meetings. It will also provide a means of promoting attention to work of interest: on the second day, it highlighted a review of Bruno Cabanes’s The Great War and the Origins of Humanitarianism, 1918-1924, as well as some sessions at next week's meeting of the Society for Historians of American Foreign Relations. As these items suggest, the blog will not be parochially "American."
The blog is seeking contributions and comments on the items it posts, including a first-day commentary on the Clinton Foundation by Stan Katz, former head of the American Council of Learned Societies.
