Call for Nominees for
ISTR Board of Directors
The
2014 Nominating Committee invites the ISTR membership to submit nominees for President
Elect and the Board of Directors of the International Society for Third-Sector
Research. The positions for which elections
will be held are:
President Elect 2 year term
(January 1, 2015 - December
31, 2016)
(Secretary and
Treasurer are elected by the Board from among the Board members as per the
By-Laws)
Board Members (7) 4 year term
(January 1, 2015 - December
31, 2018)
One additional board
member will be appointed as per the By-Laws.
All members of ISTR
are invited to submit to the Chair of the Nominating Committee recommendations
for nominees on or before JUNE 16, 2014.
Self-nomination is encouraged. Biographical information for each
nominee, as well as currently held board positions in other organizations, and
a statement of interest and motivation from the nominee must be submitted. If the nominee’s country of residence differs
from his/her nationality, please indicate how long the nominee has lived in the
country of residence.
Skills and experience
that are of interest to the Nominating Committee and should be included in the
nomination include the following:
Previous service to
ISTR
Previous membership
in ISTR and participation in conferences, committees or publications
Leadership experience
in third sector organizations (including research organizations)
Previous board
experience
Relevant skills
including strategic planning, membership and partnership development, financial
management and budgeting, editing and publishing, fundraising, marketing,
facilitation, governance, information technology, governance, etc.
Nominees for
President Elect are not required to have served on the Board of ISTR but
previous service to ISTR is of interest.
Please also include information about previous leadership experience and
success.
Prospective
candidates must be paid members of ISTR for 2014-2015 prior to the elections
and must maintain membership in ISTR throughout their board term.
In addition, board
members responsibilities include both financial and time commitments:
- Membership
development – recruiting both individual and institutional members
- Required
attendance at annual board meetings (2 to 3 days)
- Board travel is
not covered on conference years and board meetings are held with regional
meetings on alternate years to help secure board travel from members’
institutions.
- Paying full
conference fees
- Participating
actively in at least one board committee
- Help with
seeking funding for the Society
- Scholarly
participation in international conference and regional conferences.

The Nominating
Committee will present the slate of candidates to the membership in September
2014. This slate may include up to two
nominees for every position. Voting will
be conducted on-line and ballots must be
returned by November 26, 2014.
Candidates will be notified on their election to the board by December 5,
2014 and will take office January 1, 2015.
