Call for papers EGPA Annual Conference, Lausanne, 5-7 September 2018

Study Group VIII: ‘Civil Society, Citizens and Government’

Directors: Taco Brandsen, Karen Johnston, Bram Verschuere

Slowly but increasingly, we see evidence of the ‘dark side’ of co-production and participation (see the attached call). We invite papers that address one or more of these issues:

What are the ‘real’ reasons why governments increasingly rely on participation and coproduction?

What are potential negative consequences of participatory and coproductive practices?

Please note that we do not accept abstracts. Instead, we ask to receive full papers by 15 May 2018. Authors that are selected to present their paper on the EGPA conference, will be notified by 15 June 2018.

We aim for a maximum of 15 papers, in order to allow for thorough discussions and debate. After the conference, we will work towards a journal special issue on ‘The dark side of participation and coproduction’, with a collection of the most promising conference papers. For more information, and submission of papers, please contact Professor Karen Johnston (karen.johnston@port.ac.uk).
